MOTORCYCLE FOR MIRACLES
Bruce and Miracle the Motorcycle made tracks — and impacts!
On August 1st, Bruce Johnson set off for the far northeastern corner of Canada on his fourth Motorcycle For Miracles journey. On Labrador Ride 2022, he pointed Miracle the Motorcycle in the direction of a new and exciting goal on the “Road to a Million.”
“Road to a Million holds a very special significance for me,” says Bruce. “Having raised $750,000 for CMN to this point, aiming for $250,000 on this ride was a natural goal. Also, I’m celebrating my 25th anniversary as a real estate agent and my 25th year supporting the Children’s Miracle Network so there’s magic in this milestone.”
“We hope to involve as many Champion Agents as possible with a minimum donation of $2,500,” Bruce added. “But no matter the size of the donation, we’re grateful to witness the spirit of generosity so that kids can be helped or even cured – and go on to the important business of being a kid again!”
The origins of Motorcycle for Miracles are also always close at heart for the Johnson family. Bruce and Mary’s first child, Alyssa Rae, lived for 20 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at SickKids. Learn more about Alyssa’s story here.
Before the first fundraising journey in 2013, the Johnsons set up a fund at SickKids Hospital in Toronto where 100% of donations benefit sick and injured children. The Alyssa Rae Johnson Fund continues to support high-priority needs in the crucial areas of medical research, education, and patient care.
During the first ride, Bruce and his 12-year-old daughter Holly travelled from SickKids Hospital in Toronto, to Costa Rica and back raising funds and awareness for children’s health.
In 2016 Bruce and Holly rode from coast to coast across Canada and expanded their fundraising format by gathering special Champion Agents to help raise funds for all 170 CMN hospitals in the US and Canada.
In 2018, Bruce and Holly embarked on their biggest adventure yet, following a very special route from the Arctic Ocean to southern Argentina dubbed “The Ends of the Earth Ride.” Once again they sped past their fundraising goals and before this latest ride, their epic adventures had raised $750,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network hospitals throughout North America. Importantly, all funds raised stay with each donor’s local CMN hospital.
The Johnsons will never stop advocating for children’s health.
